About Me

I'm Cal; I'm a blogger, a writer and everything in-between.

Starting a degree in Creative Writing at the University of Derby, was the first step towards expanding out into the business world. During my three years of study I have gained invaluable experience that has shaped me as both a person and a writer. I have written and worked as Entertainment and Music sub-editor for the University of Derby student magazine Dusted, where I received an award for my monthly feature Cal Does… which saw me ride horseback, strap on an American Football helmet, slide up and down a Pole-dancers pole and try on some Cheerleading pom-poms. The role allowed me to learn valuable editorial skills, develop my capabilities as a writer and gave me the opportunity to interview celebrity music acts such as Diana Vickers, Coolio, Young Guns and Daisy Dares You. In summer 2010 I was shortlisted for the 4music Blogstar competition which entailed writing, interviewing and creating a professional video blog.

I have been published in the What We Wrote prose and poetry anthology as well as working on the project as associate editor. I have attained work experience with the Derby Telegraph and Attitude Magazine- furthermore being featured in their Truly, Madly, Deeply section. I’m teaching English in Italy over summer 2011 and plan to move to Michigan to study an MA in Creative Writing in September 2012.
